Dr Ritchie was extremely un professional in his way of handling his front staff i was treated very terribly by the intake girl at the front desk she was very rude ask me if I woke up onthe wrong side of the bed started to make comments about my children why idk and told me she was very overwhelmed having to check in several patients by herself she got very loud with me verbally as did I when I ask to speak to upper management which she called for his name was Carlos he was very polite explained to me she was by herself and overwhelmed which I then explained that was no reason for her to speak to me in the manner that she did Carlos told me not to worry he would get me checked in so I went upstairs and waited for another 45 minutes when security came upstairs and escorted me out and humiliated me in front of the other patients I ask to speak to Dr Ritchie which he declined and send me a letter that they banned me from this practice at new mexico orthopedics why idk Dr Ritchie was very unprofessional in not coming out and ever speaking with me on this matter I was very disappointed with the handling of his staff although im sure there are some excellent surgeons at this site I would not recommend Dr Ritchie

Had an appointment with Dr Ritchie, was pleasantly surprised. He was friendly and took the time to explain my issues. I'd recommend him to anyone seeking quality care!!!

Have an amazing experience. Dr. Ritchie has answer every question I've had and settled any concern. He really does take his time, doesn't rush, its a great experience. I have seen comments about his timing but honestly it was worth the wait to have a compassionate physician.

I arrived on time and the Dr Richie didn't show up. I left after 1hour and 15 minutes without seeing any one other than the xray people. Don't plan to return.

William ritchie, md

Board-Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon
Subspecialty Certificate in Sports Medicine
Graduate of the AAOS Leadership Fellow Program
Fellowship-Trained in Surgical Research

Dr. William Ritchie is an orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in injuries and conditions of the shoulder and knee, occupational medicine, sports medicine and trauma at New Mexico Orthopaedics.  His approach to all forms of treatment, including surgical methods, is conservative in nature.

Dr. Ritchie strongly believes in treating the whole person rather than focusing solely on the injury or condition.  He views each patient as an athlete in his or her own right—an individual who needs to “get back in the game” at full capacity, whether that activity is work, play or life in general.  He enjoys the hands-on opportunity to use his knowledge and skills to fix injuries and return people to a full and active lifestyle.

Prior to joining the team at New Mexico Orthopaedics, Dr. Ritchie proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and was Chief of Orthopaedic Surgery at Albuquerque’s own Kirtland Air Force Base. He is also proud to be one of the first surgeons in the state of New Mexico to earn the Subspecialty Certificate in Sports Medicine from the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.  In addition to being an avid skier, Dr. Ritchie enjoys cycling and running.  He is also a novice auto racer.
