PATIENT & VISITOR CODE OF CONDUCT
New Mexico Orthopaedics is committed to providing high quality healthcare and contributing to healthy, thriving communities. Everyone should expect a safe, caring, and inclusive environment in all our spaces. Our Patient and Visitor Code of Conduct helps us to meet this goal. Words or actions that are disrespectful, racist, discriminatory, hostile, or harassing are not welcome.
- Offensive comments about race, color, accent, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or other personal traits
- Refusal to see a clinician or other staff member based on these personal traits
- Physical or verbal threats and assaults
- Sexual or vulgar words or actions
- Photographing and/or recording anyone without permission
- Carrying, displaying or brandishing a weapon (weapons of any kind are not permitted on any New Mexico Orthopaedic’s premises)
- Yelling, using profanity or other actions that disrupt the care and treatment of our patients
- Using or being under the influence of drugs or alcohol
All patients and visitors will respect patient privacy and avoid disrupting other patients’ care or experience. If we receive information to indicate that a patient or someone accompanying a patient has violated this Code of Conduct, our actions may result in a patient being asked to make other plans for their care and future non-emergency care with providers other than New Mexico Orthopaedics. Patients are welcome to respond to any such actions by outlining the situation and explaining their actions and emailing their response to grievance@nmortho.net. We will always carefully consider a patient’s response in determining whether our decision will be rescinded.
If you witness or are the target of any of these behaviors, please report it to a member of your care team.
Thank you,
New Mexico Orthopaedic Associates
